Cataract surgery at the Cobham Clinic, Luton involves three stages:
Initial consultation
Surgery
Follow-up appointment
You’ll see Mr Sundaram for an initial appointment at the clinic, where he’ll carry out some eye tests and measurements. You’ll have the chance to talk about any problems with your eyesight and discuss any concerns you may have. Mr Sundaram will explain what treatment is best for you, how it works and what you can expect afterwards.
If treatment is needed, we’ll book you in. Many procedures, such as cataract surgery, are short operations, so there is usually no need to stay overnight at the clinic.
Following surgery, you’ll be asked to come back to the clinic within a few weeks for a follow-up appointment. At this appointment, Mr Sundaram will give you a check-up to make sure your eye is healing properly.

Many patients are understandably nervous about visiting the clinic, so we do everything we can to make your time here as comfortable as possible. On arrival, you’ll be greeted by the clinic’s friendly reception staff, who will make you feel at home. They’ll check all your paperwork and show you to the ward.
Most ophthalmic patients do not need to stay overnight, but for the time you are with us following your procedure, you will be given a comfortable private room with deluxe facilities, including an en-suite bathroom or wet room with complimentary toiletries and towels. If you are bringing someone with you, they are welcome to wait in your room while you have the procedure.
